City: St.Petersburg, FL

Age: 82

Occupation: Father, Grandfather, Husband, Program Manager, Product Assurance Manager, Tool and Gauge Maker.

Initial diagnosis: I was originally diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer when I discovered a growth on my right shin in September of 2008. The growth was surgically remover. My right groin was surgically examined for cancer in the lymph nodes and was found to be clear.

Progression and dates: In June of 2010 I discovered two growths on my right leg. One on my calf and one on my thigh. I also discovered a lump in my groin. These growths on my leg were surgically removed and diagnosed as Melanoma. In August, 2010 I had nine lymph nodes removed from my right groin area. Six of the nine were diagnosed as Melanoma.

Treatment location(s): I was treated at Well Spring Oncology, Pinellas Park, FL. I had several weeks of radiation treatment. The treatment was longer that normal because the incision in my groin was not completely healed. The radiation on my groin started 2 weeks after the treatment on my leg.

Current status: In January of 2011 I had a PET scan and was found to be cancer free. I am scheduled to see my Oncologist in 3 months for a follow up visit.

I would like to thank my surgeons and the people at Well Spring for their TLC (tender loving care). In addition, I worked out on a regular basis and physicians believe this helped me both recover quicker and stay mentally stronger.
